Suncrest High
“The best part of high school wasn’t just the milestone. It was the people who made the everyday moments unforgettable.”
Finding Her Stride
Elena found her footing at Suncrest through the track team. What started as a place to move, train, and reset became the place where she rebuilt her athletic confidence after leaving competitive gymnastics behind.
By senior year, she was a varsity sprinter and long jumper, track captain, and the kind of teammate people trusted—not just because she worked hard, but because she noticed when other people needed encouragement.

“She did not just run fast. She helped everyone around her keep going.”
Leadership & Lens

Suncrest was where Elena learned how to lead in more than one way. As Senior Class Vice President, she helped carry the energy of the class. As part of the Hispanic Student Union, she stayed connected to culture, service, and community. As lead sports photographer for the yearbook, she captured the moments most people were too busy living to notice.
She loved the chaos of high school—the football games, pep rallies, track meets, beach bonfires, and the feeling that something ordinary could turn into a memory without warning.
“Elena leads by example. She works hard, checks on her teammates, and never forgets that character matters as much as the finish line.” — Coach Davis

The Hiccup Pep Rally
Elena was supposed to give a welcome speech at a school-wide pep rally. Instead, she got a case of violent hiccups right as she stepped up to the microphone. She tried to push through it, the crowd started cheering her on, and somehow it became one of the funniest and most loved pep rally moments of senior year.
The Track Pants Split
Right before the 100m dash finals sophomore year, Elena split the back of her favorite track pants while stretching. She tied Julian’s oversized hoodie around her waist, ran anyway, and still placed third. It became the perfect Elena story: embarrassing, funny, and somehow still impressive.
The Prom Sneaker Compromise
Elena forgot to pack her heels for Junior Prom, so she wore her everyday white Air Force 1s with her formal dress. It looked so effortless that other girls copied it. She accidentally started a trend by just being practical.
Golden Hour on the Track
The track field at golden hour became one of Elena’s favorite places on campus. It was where she trained, cleared her head, laughed with teammates, and learned that pressure did not have to steal the joy from competition.
What She’ll Miss
Elena says she will miss seeing her best friends every day, the adrenaline before track meets, the structured chaos of high school, and the familiar feeling of walking through the same hallways with people who watched her grow up.
She will not miss waking up at 6 AM or standardized testing.
